Melissa became chief executive officer and chairman of the board of LCTA in June, 2013 after serving as vice chairman since 2007. In that capacity, she assisted the chairman in overseeing the performance of LCTA. Prior to joining our team, she served as chief nursing officer, chief operating officer, and director of Tulane Physician Clinics at Tulane University Hospital.
Melissa also worked for HCA of Louisiana’s Division Office as the director of operations improvement. She was responsible for improving patient care while negotiating cost saving support service contracts for eighteen hospitals across Louisiana. Melissa has a B.S. in nursing and a MBA degree.
Troy and our team continually look for new and innovative ways to move workers’ comp forward for policyholders and agents. He currently serves as secretary of the board of directors.
Troy brings a wealth of expertise to the proverbial table. This includes nearly 10 years of workers’ comp experience and more than 20 years of experience in healthcare related fields. He currently sits on the Governor’s Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council, the Official Disability Guideline Advisory Board, and the Workers’ Comp Research Institute (WCRI) Advisory Council.
Troy earned his MBA from Louisiana State University (LSU). He also holds a degree in health science/sports medicine from LSU and a physician assistant degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
Tim is often referred to as our chief “operate-at-a-higher-level” officer. As our chief operating officer (COO), his focus is on rallying our team to raise the bar in every category, from the exceptional service we provide to the innovative solutions we deliver.
Prior to being promoted to his current position, Tim did an outstanding job as our underwriting & marketing manager. Don’t let his youthful appearance fool you … he has extensive experience in the insurance field and has worked for a number of the industry’s leading companies. Tim is also a “numbers” guy, having received his Bachelor of Science in finance from Louisiana Tech University.
With a head for finances, Christine keeps her eye on the bottom line for LCTA and our customers. As CFO, Christine leads LCTA’s financial operations and strategic development.
Christine’s more than 20 years of experience includes 11 years as director of accounting and controller at Myron F. Steves and Company. Previously, she also held various positions at subsidiaries of HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc., including vice president and CFO.
Christine received her Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University and earned her CPA certification soon after.
This is our manager of underwriting, marketing, and overdelivering. Brent and our team are all about being responsive to the needs of our members and the agent community.
If you have questions, you can count on Brent to have the answers. He has a thorough understanding of the insurance field, having worked as an underwriting supervisor, associate broker, commercial marketing agent and surplus lines underwriter. Brent received his Bachelor of Arts in business management from Southeastern Louisiana University, and was recognized as a Certified Insurance Counselor in 2005.
A lot of people may know IT. Johnathon Dupuis knows both IT and workers’ compensation, which is why he’s our IT Manager. He has more than 15 years of information technology experience and has spent many of those years in the workers’ compensation insurance field.
Initially focused on software development, Johnathon branched out into other areas of IT, including network infrastructure setup and support, telephony and VoIP, and website maintenance. He is responsible for maintaining and expanding LCTA’s IT capabilities to improve efficiencies for policyholders, agents, and our staff. Johnathon received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2002.
No one knows the ins and outs of claims quite like Ronnie. He has more than 25 years of experience in claims administration, primarily with group self-insured plans. Before becoming our claims manager, Ronnie worked as an adjuster, claims supervisor, and claims vice president. He also has a background in law enforcement and claims investigation. If anyone has an eye for detail, it’s him.
Ronnie is a member of the Baton Rouge Claims Association and participates on the Louisiana Association of Self Insured Employer’s (LASIE) Legislative Committee and the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry’s (LABI) workers' compensation task force. He also co-authored and teaches the claims module of the LASIE Certified Workers' Compensation Professional (CWCP) program. In addition, Ronnie is a Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional.
David is our “dot the I’s and cross the T’s” person. In his current position, he’s in charge of all human resources and compliance functions. This includes administering all personnel policies, processes and employment agreements. David also oversees various efforts to ensure our files and records are accurate and in compliance with regulatory requirements and established guidelines. His team also performs periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are being followed.
David has an extensive background in worker’s comp and risk management, having served as a coverage placement specialist and claims examiner. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business management from Louisiana State University. He also is a member of Louisiana Surplus Lines Association, Mississippi Surplus Lines Association and Independent Insurance Agents of Louisiana.
Since joining LCTA in May 2013, Mary Catherine Johnson has been an invaluable team member and has taken on many roles and responsibilities. After serving as a marketing representative, director of communications, and human resources administrator, she was named human resources manager in May 2017.
In this position, Mary Catherine leads LCTA’s HR programs and policies. She works with senior management to ensure that LCTA is well staffed and well equipped to best serve its clients. Additionally, she works tirelessly to maintain a positive culture and ensure employees’ needs are met.
Prior to joining the LCTA team, Mary Catherine was program director of Louisiana Association of Self Insured Employers, where she was responsible for coordinating continuing education seminars and certification programs along with planning promotional events. Mary Catherine graduated with honors from Louisiana State University (LSU) where she earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing. She also holds a master’s degree in natural science and the Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) designation. Mary Catherine also serves on the advisory board of the Salvation Army.
